Kirstin kindly compared it to John Donne's Holy Sonnet 14:
Batter my heart, three-person'd God ; for you
As yet but knock ; breathe, shine, and seek to mend ;
That I may rise, and stand, o'erthrow me, and bend
Your force, to break, blow, burn, and make me new.
And Steve said it reminded him of his song "Break Me":
I'll take either comparison. I'm just glad to have written a poem again! I'm pretty pleased with it, in that giddiness that only writing poetry can bring, and I think it fits well with my Lenten theme.

I like it. A lot. Very happy you were able to write a poem--I know that giddy feeling well :o). And I am hopeful that all the wrestling with God will lead you some place beautiful. Glad to be with you on the journey.
